Cheney criticizes New York Times in paper's backyard

NEW YORK -- Vice President Dick Cheney, traveling into the home turf of The New York Times, criticized the paper Friday for disclosing information about a secret government program to track the financing of terror suspects.

"Leaks to The New York Times and the publishing of those leaks is very damaging to our national security," Cheney said at a fundraising lunch for Rep. Scott Garrett, R-N.J. "Putting this information on the front page makes it more difficult for us to prevent future attacks."

...

Cheney also urged attendees at the $1,000-a plate gathering to keep national security issues atop their list of priorities when casting votes in the November elections.

"Every voter needs to know where the president and I stand, and where leaders of the Democratic Party stand," he said.

for running the same article. I guess you don't get as good a response from the crowd if you don't yell "liberal media bias"...

the plans to do this sort of stuff right after 9-11 happened. you're following kkkarl's advice, and thanks for doing it, because it wastes everyone's time and makes enemies of the press who will now be bashing the f*&% out of rethuglicans all summer and into the fall.

They should be on the defensive ...not us. And thanks Mz Pip for the link, I'm sending a copy to my ultra-conservative, Bush loving House Rep. and our 2 Senators for a little reminder.
