FBI monitors Detroit area for activity related to Hezbollah

DETROIT Federal agents are keeping close tabs on the Detroit area for activity related to Hezbollah.

The F-B-I has renewed contacts with informants, held private meetings with Arab-American and Muslim leaders and voiced concern about public support shown for Hezbollah at rallies.

Authorities also have alerted local leaders in the Jewish community about potential security threats at synagogues.

But officials say there's no evidence of any specific or immediate threats.

At the rally Friday, a few people quietly threw the pro-Hezbollah signs into the trash that were stacked for people to grab and carry. But after the march, the speakers mentioned Hezbollah, and pretty much everyone with a Lebanese flag cheered and waved their flags wildly. There were hundreds (maybe 2 thousand?) of people there. Folks around here seem to have a more European/Arab/United Nations view of Hezbollah than the US media has.
