to occur! The longer it takes to get a cease-fire=the more civilians dead.

35. You have to remember
When the Israelis do anything like this it's not genocide, it's self defense. The Israelis detain people, Hamas and Hezbollah kidnap them.

You get the gist.

14. the israelis want massive chaotic violence for cover
so they can expel ("transfer") Palestinians and Southern Lebanese. They also didn't appreciate Beirut's burgeoning potential as the region's Hong Kong preferring the utterly delusional pipedream of a Tel Aviv centered Levantine economy.

Peace & Love to Lebanon!

Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 07:04 PM by Zhade
You're likely right in your suspicions.

If that's the case, it is imperative that we work toward a cease-fire before any country does retaliate, and thus stop escalation as well as rob the Neocon-Likud alliance of their desired goal.

33. It's obvious from the outside
Israel & the USA (followed by their lapdog, the UK) are sat there
committing outrage after outrage, waiting for someone to snap back
at them and give them "the excuse" for escalation.

It's deliberate, it's obscene and it's out of control.

...Meanwhile, Israeli gunboats shelled Lebanon's largest Palestinian refugee camp for the first time since the Israel-Hezbollah conflict began, Lebanese and Palestinian officials told The Associated Press. At least one person was killed, the sources said.

The boats fired two shells, one of which landed in the Ein el-Hilweh camp on the outskirts of Sidon, the officials said, according to AP. The other landed in the city's amusement park, they added. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to the media, AP reported....

Red Cross: Israel violates Geneva Conventions

The president of the International Committee of the Red Cross accused Israel on Tuesday of violating the Geneva Conventions by preventing aid convoys from getting into areas targeted by Israeli airstrikes. The official, Jakob Kellenberger, demanded more access to civilians in southern Lebanon. He will meet with Israeli officials on Wednesday.

"By letting down leaflets you cannot get rid of your responsibilities under international humanitarian law," Kellenberger said, referring to warnings the Israeli military has issued before airstrikes...(more@link)

Israel strikes at refugee camp (AFP)

AN Israeli strike on the southern Lebanon Palestinian refugee camp of Ain Al Hilweh killed at least two people, medics said today.

It was the first time Israel has bombarded the Palestinian refugee camp, the largest in Lebanon and home to some 50,000 refugees, since the start of the four-week-old conflict.
The missiles targeted the area around the home of Colonel Munir Maqdah, a military chief of the Fatah movement in Lebanon, Palestinian sources said.

camp opening up soon (there is at least one thread about this). This seems like a surreal bit of irony.
