AP reports that Hezbollah TV says Hezbollah destroyed an Israeli gunboat
The Associated Press reports that Hezbollah TV says Hezbollah destroyed an Israeli gunboat off the coast of Tyre, killing or wounding the crew of 12. The Israeli army had no comment.

1. Hizbolla TV
Keep in mind that Hizbolla TV is the Fox network of that region!

2. and while you're at it
keep in mind that the IDF uses the same playbook as the DOD when it comes to reporting the truth. Pat Tillman? Jessica Lynch?

3. What happened with the last Israeli ship
that was allegedly destroyed. It sank out of sight (so to speak).

And the Egyptian ship? Wasn't there some civilian ship with Egyptian registry struck when the first Israeli ship--confirmed to have been hit, with sailors killed--was hit?

6. Gunboat was hit, several sailors died. Egyptian freighter was also hit
and it sunk. I do not know the number of casulities on the freighter

4. If a gunboat was indeed sunk, the question will be how
More C-802s like the first attempt? If so how was it targeted and why did the CWIS not shoot it down. If something like that did happen, then things are going to get uglier (that is possible).

HezbollahTV is right up there with Neal Boortz and Drudge in terms of being slanted, but this will be easily verified in the near term.

7. last time they announced such a thing
it was after 2nd Qana massacre, Hezbollah wanted to achieve some spectacular military strike to impress arabs, they claimed to have sunk a gunboat. first IDF denied, but 2 or 3 days later admitted that 3 missiles were shot at the gunboat without damage. I absolutely don't trust the number of casualties Hezbollah provide for both sides, but the general picture is quite correct.
I found a lot of propaganda in the statements of IDF: control of maroun-ar-ras, bint-jbeil, Iranian revolutionary guards in South Lebanon, 400-500 Hez killed, firing from civilian areas (with all the satellites, drones, spies, they provided little evidence of that), 24h delay in announcing casualties (Al-Jazeera always first to announce them)

8. You want to see IDF propoganda?
Get on YouTube and search for the video clips posted by vitalperspective. So obviously propoganda, straight from the source, it will make your nose bleed.

A virtual propoganda war is being fought there, between Israel and Hez supporters, in both videos and comments.

9. News lag favors Hizbollah
They have a network that always wins by reporting news. They can make stuff up and get it wrong and still win too, but in effect instantaneous news is on their side. They have more innocent civilian casulaties. They are standing up against the full Israeli might on their own soil. They simply don't need too many props, but any blow against Israel, real or imagined is what they hunger to tell and hear.

Israel and the West on the other hand has become a chugging propaganda/get-the-fact-right machine with its own failings regarding truth, but more regarding consistency and purpose. They take it on the chin in the ME. Israel is inflicting damage instantaneously and at the same time chugging on message control via the "news". Real facts won't satisfy their cause, their reputation already soiled.

The impression overall is that more truth will spill out with the first reporting via Al Jazeera and more facts could(but not always) will come out via the West. Because any propaganda need by those under attack is outweighed by the need to get it our fast.

As to the theoretical "news" itself in this mess, that has become the janitorial purvey of competent and brave historians. Currently mess rules all, lies have full sway.
