U.S. blames Iraq blast on hostile act
Associated Press

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Car bombs triggered gas explosions in a Shiite neighborhood two days ago, the U.S. said Tuesday, acknowledging that the attack was due to a hostile act.

At least 63 Iraqis were killed and 140 wounded in the series of explosions Sunday night in Zafraniyah. Iraqi officials said the blasts were due to car bombs and a rocket attack from a Sunni neighborhood under U.S. control.

But U.S. military spokesman, Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, insisted Monday that American experts had concluded that there was "no evidence" of anything other than a "significant gas explosion."

That implied that the blast may not have been due to a hostile act.

However, a U.S. statement Tuesday said the blasts were triggered when two car bombs detonated near a residential building, "causing a gas explosion" that collapsed the structure.

1. Well, it looks like their pathetic attempt to downplay the continued
violence by pretending it was a gas explosion didn't work, surprise, surprise. I expect more attempts to blame "benign" reasons for explosions to continue, after all, they have increased the "protection" of Baghdad so there is no way car bombs could still continue!

2. Had this been the US it would have been blamed on terror 24/7 from
the get-go even though it probably WOULD HAVE been a gas explosion. In IRAQ, where the odds are great that it was a car bomb, it is a gas explosion since things are going so well there and isn't it great they have gas to cook their meals on?

3. And the twin towers fell down because of lack of structural integrity.
Of course the lack of structural integrity was the direcet result of a terrorist act. How stupid do they really think we are? Then there are all of those military casualties as a result of "vehicle accidents" during combat.
