Thousands bay for US blood (Tehran, Iran)
Tehran - More than 10 000 Iranian revolutionary militia chanted "Death to America" outside the former US embassy in Tehran on Sunday, wishing defeat in Iraq on the "Great Satan."

"The region will only see peace and calm when the occupiers get out," Yahya Rahim Safavi, head of both the elite Revolutionary Guards Corps and the Bassij militia, told the crowd of men and women who had been bussed to the city centre compound.

"We hope that the US is dealt a humiliating defeat in Iraq, so the US warmonger administration won't get re-elected to send US children to the Iraqi quagmire," he added.

The Bassiji, the men wearing camouflage fatigues and the women in the all-embracing black chador, who according to their own estimate numbered around 15 000, chanted the usual slogans of "Death to America" and "Death to Israel."

They're True Believers. Would you expect anything less?

3. I came in here looking for a 'pony' and all I got was more 'shit'
When the headline read "..baying for US blood." I thought they type of blood the Red Cross/Crescent provides, and that somehow our blood supply was safer... There went THAT 'pony'! :grr:

5. Iran was, up til Shrub stole the WH, beginning to show signs of friendline
friendliness towards the USA.
So much for all the goodwill all over the world, squandered by the criminal Bush.
:grr:

6. That sentiment still exists in Iran.
Again, these are the True Believers, the 'defenders of the revolution' brainwashed who have been demonstrating like this since 1979.

They have nothing to do with the people who were rioting in the streets not so long ago against the current regime in Tehran.

7. They were baying?
What a curious word to use to describe a group of people.

8. notice the quote about the election
seems they think a non-Bush administration would be better. They have a clearer understanding of Bush than many Americans.

9. You can't really mean that, can you?
Arguing that radical Iranian hardliners -- the same types that held our citizens hostage and who spend their Friday's chanting "Death to America" and "Death to Israel" -- have a better idea of who should be our President than "many Americans," is a good way for us to lose all 50 states in 2004. Let's try to keep some kind of perspective on things.
