Iran to announce nuclear 'breakthrough'
Iran will soon announce an atomic breakthrough, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported today, a day after the country responded to an offer aimed at resolving a nuclear standoff.

'This great scientific achievement is the fruit of a long-term research project ... It will be formally announced by a top official,' Mehr quoted an informed source as saying.

The United Nations Security Council has given Iran until August 31 to halt enrichment and reprocessing activities, or face possible sanctions.

14. Great mileage, just a small problem when the reactor overheats
You want to be about a mile or two away from it when that happens.

18. The front end looks like the ass-end of an old Thunderbird or Cougar
.
.
.

67 - 70 era methinks

and the back end looks like the old Cadillac fins from the same era

Wouldn't be too good on a rough country road tho -

with that snout hanging out so far in front of the front wheels, a 6" pothole would plant that nose of the vehicle in the dirt!

I don't see this as ever being a practical design . .

Or marketable

Ya want innovation and economy?

Ignore the "Big 3" IMO

8. Iran's neighbors and near neighbors
Pakistan - nuclear
India - nuclear
Israel - nuclear
Russia - nuclear
China - nuclear
U.S./U.K./France - nuclear submarines capable of parking themselves off Iran's coast, and U.S./U.K. occupying Iraq.

It isn't really a surprise that they might want a nuclear deterrent, even if they claim they are only interested in civilian technology.

13. What if it's a development that could change mankind?
Not in a bad way, mind you. Like safe, free portable energy generation?
Sounds a bit kookie, I know, but what if?

15. Same thought crossed my mind
Since the free world is devoting so little energy and thought to making the world a better place, Iran could play a real trump card by making a peaceful announcement of real benefit to the rest of the world, which is already preparing to abandon Merca to its misery.

19. Who cares.
If it's a bomb, that might be a good thing.

If it's something else, that also might be a good thing.
