Bremer: Saddam alive but not behind attacks
WASHINGTON (AP) — The top U.S. official in Iraq says he believes Saddam Hussein is still alive and remains in the war-battered nation, but is not orchestrating daily attacks on American troops.

Paul Bremer, the U.S. civilian administrator in Iraq, says he believes Saddam Hussein was still in Iraq.

U.S. administrator L. Paul Bremer also told NBC's Meet the Press on Sunday that Americans should prepare for a lengthy stay in Iraq.

"It's clear that given the size of the task, we are going to be there for a while," he said. "I don't know how many years."

...

But getting the deposed Iraqi dictator would help the situation.

"The sooner we can either kill him or capture him, the better, because the fact that his fate is unknown certainly gives his supporters the chance to go around and try to rally support for him," said Bremer.

In time, Bremer said of Saddam, "we'll get him."

Now that they don't have anyone in charge it makes sense. Its a violent state of anarchy.

272 troops now dead according to CNN.

2. Is Bremer here because there are serious demonstrations in
Iraq...these reTHUGlicans just leave the others on their own...many have stated that the next few weeks of Iraqi holidays will be difficult...so Bremer bails back to DC...just like Tommy Franks and others...

read recently that Karzai was here in DC too...what a great bunch of leaders...all taking cues from the pResident who fled on 9/11....they just leave Iraq in a real mess and flee back to the comfortable diplomatic environment of the USA....
