3. Ford was a repug and very conservative. A close friend to
Reagan and a Nixon supporter. He took himself rather seriously regarding his political views - I have disliked him for many, many years because he was both arrogant and ignorant.

I never really knew anything about his personal life or views. Never cared much for him myself, either. I do recall having heard somewhere that he was some sort of brass hat in the Naval Reserve...

and my parents were active in the party. I met Glenn Ford at some fundraiser when Raygun was running for Governor here in CA. I do have to say that Glenn Ford seemed nice, course it was a partisan crowd.

PS...My whole family got fed up soon after Raygun became Gov. and we've all been Democrats for years. :-)

30. But a great actor who could act circles around Reagan. One of the best
"Western" actors ever, imo.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) -- Actor Glenn Ford, who played strong, thoughtful protagonists in films such as "The Blackboard Jungle," "Gilda" and "The Big Heat," died Wednesday, police said. He was 90.

Paramedics called to Ford's home just before 4 p.m. found Ford dead, police Sgt. Terry Nutall said, reading a prepared statement. "They do not suspect foul play," he said.

Ford suffered a series of strokes in the 1990s.

8. 3:10 to Yuma
Too many stellar performances to choose from, but when I read the news, my mind went immediately to 3:10 to Yuma...sort of "High Noon" with a few other things mixed in, one of his best.

R.I.P. Mr. Ford.

14. OT-"3:10 To Yuma" to be remade
With Russell Crowe in the Glenn Ford part. Christian Bale plays opposite.

Gilda and The Big Heat are my favorte Glenn Ford movies plus The Courtship Of Eddie's Father. Corny but sweet<

12. Is it just me....?
I hate seeing these totally non-political threads posted at DU.

What's next, "Bingo the elephant had his first birthday, at the Cleveland zoo"?

Can't we talk politics here?

26. This isn't Democratic Political Underground
It's Democratic Underground, and there are many different forums on here. My life is NOT politics 24/7. It can't be. I was interested in hearing that Glenn Ford died. If you don't like the threads, don't click on them. I don't click on threads that don't interest me. Not a big deal.

This is LBN, not General Discussion: Politics.

And, I would also read an article about an elephant's birthday party at a zoo. That would be interesting to me. Elephants are fascinating creatures.

25. "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" is one of my favs of all time
He and little Ronny Howard were very good together -- and Shirley Jones and Stella Stevens were pretty good, too.

And, gotta love "The Blackboard Jungle," too.
