NATO troops gather for major Afghanistan battle
Whack a mole.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — Canadian and NATO forces are marshalling for a major battle to retake a Taliban stronghold in southern Afghanistan that has become a painful thorn in the side of Canadian troops.

NATO commanders cast a dire warning to Afghan civilians Thursday to flee the Panjwaii district near Kandahar where Canadians troops have fought — and several have died — to repeatedly retake the same dusty villages and scrubby grape farms.

Col. Steve Williams, the NATO deputy commander in southern Afghanistan, promised this attempt will have long-term results.

“This is going to be different because we're going to stay,” said Mr. Williams, the plain-talking leader of 2,500 U.S. troops based with NATO forces in Kandahar.

That's what the Russians said too.

7. Right
The Russians were taking the same village for several times for several years. They ended up having more enemies then they faced in the beginning.

3. LMAO
"Whack-a-mole!" Indeed. Except the moles shoot back and booby-trap their holes... all in all, a far more savage amusement, though every bit as futile. When will these chickhawk shitbirds realize that you can't fight a "conventional" war with these clowns and hope to win? Vietnam... it's more than just an ass-whoopin'. It's a lesson in modern warfare. Geurrila insurgencies and civilian soldiers are the rule of the day. Gestapo shit don't get the nut. The whack a mole thing had me bustin' up, though.

Kudos,

powwowdancer out

5. It sounds ominous
No doubt some more Canadians will die, along with a lot of Afghanis that are just minding their own business, trying to harvest their grapes.
