Who Tried to Bribe Rep Smith?
http://slate.msn.com/id/2091787/

Wouldn't you consider this to be BIG NEWS!? Is this finally what brings down Tom Delay? Why are there no DEMS demanding an investigation.

I know, I know...It is just business as usual. What the hell happened to this country?

This calls for an independent investigation.

1. It would be big news...in a Free Country
In Imperial Amerika it's just more whining for an archaic concept known as "justice".

As if anyone couldn't tell that the Imperial Family is Pure and Blameless, while their opponents are Slimy and Evil.

Of course, Totalitarian Societies such as Imperial Amerika is becoming thrive on double-standards.

You can bet your ass this would be a big news story, along with about 1000 others flushed down the Memory Hole including Hatch's aid (likely with Hatch's approval) hacked the Democratic Senators of the Judiciary.

But of course, the staffer is an Imperial Family Ally, so whoopsie and wrist slap (followed by a BIG ASS promotion and payoff once the heat's off).

God, I miss being free, though I confess to guilty enjoping this twilight, when Tyranny hasn't yet "trickled-down" to most people and denial is easy.

9. Yes, this is a new article in Slate
It has me kind of pissed though. Have we as Americans become this jaded? Do we just accept that this is business as usual so the media does not cover it? Can you imagine if this was a Clinton or a Kennedy?

Is it just sex that gets the coverage nowadays? Maybe if the story was "Congressman Threatened with Pictures of 2 Hookers, a Transexual and a Midget" this would get national coverage.

Disclainmer - I have nothing against Hookers, transexuals, or midgets. The above was not meant to be derogatory, but was only meant to make a point.

13. Evidently they don't answer to God either
Not sure God is very pleased with all the hatred and murder. I'm sure they'll get what they deserve when judgement comes, but what about the rest of us now? This is absolutely sick. We knew it was happening, but no one is listening.

10. Dennis Hastert & Tommy Thompson
Thompson isn't even supposed to be there - only former members can be - but Thompson was down on the floor. I think this is a disgrace and can't believe it isn't getting any attention.

4. If all the facts are correct, and I have no reason to believe otherwise,
United States Code, Title 18, Section 201, "Bribery of public officials and witnesses," states that under federal law, a person commits bribery if he

directly or indirectly, corruptly gives, offers or promises anything of value to any public official or person who has been selected to be a public official, or offers or promises any public official or any person who has been selected to be a public official to give anything of value to any other person or entity , with intent to influence any official act.

Sounds to me like someone should go to jail.

5. So I guess
So I guess Bob Novak is now a material witness to treason and bribery. I wonder if he will ever get enough of a concience to speak to either matter for the good of the country?

6. May be extortion, not bribe:
Extortion is the illegal use of one's official position or powers to obtain property, funds or patronage.
