Key House Republican Backs Bush's Plan to Try Terror Suspects and Withhold Some Evidence

WASHINGTON Sep 7, 2006 (AP)— A leading House Republican on defense matters aligned himself Thursday with President Bush's new plan for trying terror war suspects, saying the proposed military commissions must allow the government to protect intelligence sources.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, also called on the process to be done "fairly, swiftly and conclusively."

"While we need to provide basic fairness in our prosecutions, we must preserve the ability of our warfighters to operate effectively on the battlefield," Hunter, R-Calif., said during a hearing.

Military lawyers and a Justice Department official were testifying.

1. Be REALLY fair--put them on PUBLIC trial!
Give 'em lawyers and a good stiff dose of the freedom they hate so much! It's not as though they have anything they can testify AGAINST the Bush monarchy with. And so what if any information they gave up was tortured out of them? That doesn't mean it isn't reliable...

2. It really doesn't matter what they pass.
If it violates the Geneva Conventions it will be challenged and declared unConstitutional.

5. Exactly
These repubs who have blindly sucked at bush's tit for almost 6 years now had best get their jollies in quickly - November is right around the corner. If I were a sitting repub running for reelection, I'd make sure that my resume was up to date for that lobbyist job interview in the near future.

4. Have Congress make legal the illegal acts that Bush has committed
This is like making bank robbery legal after your guy gets caught red handed robbing a bank.
