First Lady Leads Commissioning Navy Sub
Now we know what Laura has been up to.

GALVESTON, Texas (AP) -

The USS Texas, the Navy's newest attack submarine, was commissioned at the Port of Galveston Saturday as first lady Laura Bush gave the traditional command: "Man your ship and bring it to life!"

The submarine's commanding officer, Capt. John Litherland, and crew of 134 officers and enlisted sailors obliged, running through an applauding crowd of thousands to stand atop the vessel and salute.

"Today, at long last, she and you are ready," she told the crew. She said she and the nation were "trusting you to remind the world 'Don't Mess with Texas.'"

It is the fourth Navy ship to carry the name Texas.

"After a 13-year absence from the fleet, the proud name of Texas returns to the Navy," said Dionel Aviles, undersecretary of the Navy.

1. "[R]unning through an applauding crowd of thousands" - WTF?
When did they turn a commissioning ceremony into a football's team entrance?

Me and my fellow submariners hated pomp and pageantry. We just wanted to go silent and go deep. Leave the surface for the targets to float upon.

3. I went to one once where the anti-war people were out in force.
Presidents wife was the big wig also. The anti-war group were thrown off once the boat hit the water by the crew who rode it down. The group at the gate were not to bad and kept to the rules of where they could go and what they could do. Being on boats in the river I think shocked the navy. It was very interesting.

5. Just another instance of BushCo using people in uniform...
to further their traitorous agenda. One of these days, it will backfire on the AWOL coward.

6. The "PROUD" name of Texas?
The assassination of JFK, and it's coverup

LBJ and the Gulf of Tonkin LIE

Tom "the cockroach" DeLay

Dick Armey

The Bush Crime Family

I was in the submarine service. I'm glad my boats had fish names and not a name that would remind me of Bush.

10. What a joke on so many different levels
Hey pickles, you wanna work on woman's issues? Then why the fuck are you commissioning a boat that a woman is not allowed to serve on? Yeah, just crack the stupid bottle or cut the stupid ribbon and smile your stupid stepford wife smile, you can't bother your "beautiful mind" with woman's issues.
