Kerry: Bush uses 9/11 as ‘political pawn’

Sen. John F. Kerry yesterday blasted the Bush administration for war and homeland security policies that he said leave Americans more vulnerable to attack.

...

In his fourth speech this year at the venue, Kerry accused the administration of using the tragedy that killed about 3,000 Americans to justify the war in Iraq.

“It is immoral to treat 9/11 as a political pawn (to) excuse the invasion of Iraq,” Kerry said. “They were attacked and killed not by Saddam Hussein but by Osama bin Laden.”

Kerry, who is likely prepping for another presidential run, urged Democrats to “redeploy from Iraq, recommit to Afghanistan, reduce our dependence on foreign oil, reinforce our homeland defense and restore America’s moral leadership in the world.” Kerry also laid out the strategy in a Boston Herald Op-Ed column yesterday.

6. you know what, though?
Kerry has to keep pounding out messages like these, as long as * is out there "catapulting his propaganda". People don't pay close attention or think, and just accept whatever * shovels as true and important just because he's president.

14. Also, if he didn't repeat this, the poster would be saying
that he never speaks up against Bush.

8. If EVERY DEmocrat was saying this, it wouldn't have to be constantly
repeated by the few who WILL say it.

3. also says blue states get less funding from DHS>

...... He also accused Republicans of playing politics with Homeland Security funding by decreasing funds for “states that need it most - which happens to be ‘blue’ states,” while increasing it in “the ‘red’ states that need it least.”
“What should count here is the terrorist list, not the Republican National Committee’s political target list,” Kerry said.
Kerry’s speech comes a day after the Republican National Committee launched a Web site (www.demfacts.com) that the group says “highlights Democrat leaders’ hypocrisy by juxtaposing their prewar intelligence statements to their current attacks,” according to the site.

15. They are using the same edited comments
they used last year in their Veteran's day blitz - they ignore the fact that the full text does not support the Republican claim.

4. It's not his pawn, it's his WHOLE GAME, without it he's just an awol Lt.
Because of it, he's Generalissimo Maximum Leader, Leader of the Free World, Defender of the Faith, the Scourge of Terrorism, and the Commander-in-Chief of All Armies and Sewing Circles.

7. Kerry's going to the heart of the problem,
and that is that people need to see these RW tactics for what they are. They need to be educated so that they will see through the smear tactics and lying and realize that * is doing this 100% for political reasons and to save his own neck from oversight hearings. They need to learn to be cynical and stop believing all of the crap.

Doing this is much better than trying to answer each charge and accusation point by point; that's what they want the Dems to do--to take the bait and get all bogged down on the details.

13. That is it exactly
I wish I could clone you and send you to every election committee in every state in the country. Every single time they run one of their fear and smear campaigns, the response should be righteous indignation at their lies and slander. The ploy has to be exposed to take the power out of it. That's what we should have done in 2004, what I think Kerry was trying to do, what was misinterpreted as taking the high road. Hopefully it's been done so many times now, that Dems won't go down that path again.

12. As I recall he came to that conclusion and spoke about it many times
in 2004! Too bad the media was paid to ignore 99% of what he said and distort the other 1%.
