Hundreds of unionized health care workers clogged the parking lot of a local Wal-Mart store yesterday to object to the company's benefits.

They said many Wal-Mart workers earn so little and receive such poor benefits that they rely on Medicaid, the government health insurance program for the poor. They said it cost state taxpayers $15 million during the past year.

The members of SEIU 1199P, which represents nursing home and hospital workers, were bused in from a SEIU convention outside Harrisburg.

Walking behind a bus with a blaring horn, a thick column of SEIU members in purple jackets snaked through the parking lot before pausing in front of the store.

They simply have no problems with getting away with as much as their labor force lets them.

So long as Wal-Mart employees are willing to take it up the poopchute rather than organize, they'll continue to get f*****.

Some people seem actually OPPOSED to organizing. I remember a job I had at a retailer when I wanted THREE of us to organize because we were getting shit on so hard. (The three of us, if we all quit or struck, would have crippled the entire operation as we ran the computers and shipping.) Nobody wanted to. EVEN IF we could've gotten better hours, better pay, etc. (Actually better hours was the crux as we were working 90 hour work weeks during peak holiday time.)

I could never understand it, but many people in this country, who are labor, think unions are "bad ideas". It's a shame!

unchecked, unregulated corporate power - abuse of power, really - is the biggest threat to the average Americans way of life; aside from this evil Administration of course.
