Leak of Iraq report created "misimpressions": Bush
Edited on Sat Sep-30-06 09:32 AM by deminks
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush on Saturday hit back at critics who have cited an intelligence report as evidence that the Iraq war has worsened the terrorism threat.

Bush said the leaks of the report that appeared in media a week ago created "misimpressions" of its findings. Bush later declassified 3-1/2 pages of the National Intelligence Estimate prepared by the 16 U.S. spy agencies.

"Some in Washington have selectively quoted from this document to make the case that by fighting the terrorists in Iraq, we are making our people less secure here at home," Bush said.

"This argument buys into the enemy's propaganda that the terrorists attack us because we are provoking them," he said.

1. The "fly paper" excuse the rightwingnuts use is that by PROVOKING
them the terrorists will attack us.

bush calls the rightwingnut rhetoric "enemy's propaganda".

So bush is saying the rightwingnuts are the enemy.

It's like taking candy from a newborn, the way bush & his minions flip flop flip trip over their own bullshit. It really is.

2. He's reduced to endless repetitions of the same spiel
and very few people are buying it anymore. It appears that cheney and rummy are sort of fading into the background and letting the boy king take the heat for Iraq. It won't be long now before he starts talking to the White House portraits of former presidents and asking Kissinger to pray with him. And his long awaited public meltdown can't be far behind. I wouldn't bet on his political survival. Remember, cheney and rumsfeld are skilled bureaucratic infighters. bush is not - he's a naive idealistic zealot who has been manipulated into being the front man for a lot of policies designed to make some folks very rich and throw a little red meat to those with dreams of US global domination.

5. The recent disclosure that Kissinger has been a regular visitor lately...
...was kind of telling, wasn't it?

"Get down on your knees and pray with me, Henry!"

"Mr. President, you've got a big day tomorrow, why don't ve get in our pajamas und go sleepy?"

"Don't you want to pray, you Christ-killer?"

It would be funny if it weren't for the fact that he has his finger on the button...

4. The big lie
From wikipedia-
The phrase was also used (on page 51) in a report prepared during the war by the United States Office of Strategic Services in describing Hitler's psychological profile <1>

His primary rules were: never allow the public to cool off; never admit a fault or wrong; never concede that there may be some good in your enemy; never leave room for alternatives; never accept blame; concentrate on one enemy at a time and blame him for everything that goes wrong; people will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it. - OSS
