Another Okla company set to shut down, ship jobs overseas (Kwikset)
Edited on Thu Dec-04-03 11:09 PM by karlschneider
sorry no link, just on KOTV here. This is the fifth significant employer to do the same since the first of this year. This one dumps about a thousand jobs. I've lost count but the total is over 7000. All going to Mexico and other places.

This company is a subsidiary of Black & Decker.

Maybe there is more at http://www.kotv.com by now

Edit: just checked, not on their website as of 2208 CST.

1. Are you sure about this?
I know several engineers that work at that plant and would hate to hear they are losing their jobs. Merry Xmas.

Black and Decker has this paragraph

The brand and product repositioning that we introduced in late 2001 continued to be very successful, resulting in increased shelf space in retail distribution, strong sales growth, and higher market share. Improved manufacturing efficiency, including benefits from closing a plant in 2001, enabled Kwikset to more than double its operating profit. Kwikset also generated a significant increase in cash flow, aided by substantial reductions in inventory and capital spending. We plan to close another Kwikset plant during 2003 to achieve further cost savings and simplify the supply chain in this business.

these productivity increases are starting to really piss me off

(edited for typo)
