CBS backs down on Lynch movie
American TV network CBS has admitted it was unwise to propose a television movie to Jessica Lynch about her experiences in Iraq while also discussing a news interview with the former prisoner of war.

Private Lynch was captured by Iraqi troops during the recent war in Iraq along with six other soldiers after an ambush which left 11 Americans died.

Betsy West, a CBS News executive, wrote to the Lynch family suggesting a two-hour documentary on the Private's ordeal but the letter also noted the company's interest in making it into a TV movie.

"CBS Entertainment 'tell us this would be the highest priority for the CBS movie division'," the letter stated.

CBS Chairman Leslie Moonves said they should have done things differently.

1. I think it would make a great movie...
...displaying the ugliness of the whore media and military propaganda (complete w/ the fake "rescue")

2. Unwise, yep
Considering that it's all been proven to be the great big honkin', steamin' pile of HORSECRAP that it actually is.

Am still surprised, though, since that hasn't seemed to stop anyone in the media so far....

(I still vote for Kellie Martin to play Lynch in the "Lifetime" version.)

3. Why don't they leave this poor girl alone
It's obvious she doesn't want the publicity - let her alone to live her life.

6. I disagree.
She already has access to a GI bill for college. She didn't do anything to earn the additional tuition money she was given. Unless the state of WV is willing to give money to every veteran that served in Iraq then it is horribly hypocritical and very inappropriate.

7. shill game
The forces that be need all the symbols of military success they can muster.

Who cares they are unwilling to be shills?

5. 2 Hours?
For the story of how she pankcked, wrecked teh truck she was driving. Got rescued by the Iraqis and taken to the hospital, where from she was removed the US Army in a staged publicity stunt? Ya know? THat just might make a good TV movie now that I think about it.
