Democrat admits money violation: Titus returns $10,000 contribution (NV)

this pisses me off ...I'm still hoping NV doesn't get stuck with that asshat Congressman Jim Gibbons who stumps for * and said we should send all Birkenstock wearing peace liberals to the frontlines of Iraq ...

Democratic gubernatorial nominee Dina Titus on Monday admitted she took a contribution at a time when legislators are barred from doing so and has returned $10,000 her campaign took from a political action committee she controlled.

Under a Nevada statute Titus helped enact, legislators may not accept campaign donations within 30 days of the legislative session to prevent having their votes influenced.

"It's true that she made a contribution to herself" during the prohibited period, Titus spokeswoman Hilarie Grey said. But she said that did not violate the spirit of the law.

"She didn't solicit herself. This is not about an outside interest plying a legislator," Grey said.

Titus' letter to the secretary of state's office acknowledging the violation was aimed at pre-empting a complaint filed by a Republican activist but not yet referred to Titus for response.

6. Gibbons is as bad as you think he is....

This is unfortunate. Titus is the better candidate hands-down (educator), but the Gibbons campaign is really smacking her around for her '97 flood comments about Northern Nevada and it has traction with the knucklehead contingency in Reno and the rural outlying areas. This is yet one more issue that can be waved in her face, she needs to get some teeth quick if she is going to get in the game. Gibbons is an easy target, total GOP shill & stooge - she needs to use the FOX News interview of Gibbons fellating Bush when he landed on the aircraft carrier against him, but hasn't gone there yet.
