Ex-page from S.D. was warned about Foley
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/20061004-9999-1n4page.html

WASHINGTON – Long before Mark Beck-Heyman ever came to this town in 1995 to work as a congressional page, Congress had revamped the program in hopes of preventing the sort of sex scandals that had disgraced two congressmen more than a decade earlier.

Regardless, the former resident of San Diego's North Park neighborhood learned almost from day one that there was one person to be careful of: Rep. Mark Foley.

“When I got there, I was warned about Foley from former pages and cloakroom Republican staffers,” said Beck-Heyman, who attended a Catholic high school at the time and was nominated for the page program by Republican Rep. Brian Bilbray, who then lived in Imperial Beach. “The warning was to watch out for him.”

Questions concerning who knew about the former Republican congressman from Florida – and when – continued to swirl around the nation's capital yesterday as new revelations surfaced about Foley's sexually explicit e-mails and instant messages to underage pages.

9. Nope. The page system is fine. IT'S THE CRIMINAL
REPUBLICAN SEXUAL PREDATORS that are the problem.

We're NOT gonna blame the victims here.

10. that's not what i was saying
Of course the pages aren't at fault. I was concerned about the page system and where it would end up that's all. Everyone knows Foley is a sexual predator.

11. It's only The Republican Leadership who wants to shut-down The Page
Program because they'd rather blame the victims and staffers rather than being ACCOUNTABLE like leaders are supposed to act. You know, the true leaders? :puke:

13. So this scandal goes back to Newtie's tenure. No wonder Newt was
spinning on it. I believe he is the one that said Republicans had to be careful or it would seem like gay bashing. Never mind that a minor is a minor whether straight or gay sex is involved.

WHAT DID NEWT GINGRICH KNOW AND WHEN DID HE KNOW IT?

And why do I think that Tom Delay probably was up to his neck in Foley-gate coverup as well?

14. Foley developed that kind of reputation in less than a year?
1995 is the year he came to Congress.
