The Going Gets Tough for Schwarzenegger
By Michael Finnegan and Joe Mathews
Times Staff Writers

December 5, 2003

SACRAMENTO — As he faces the first major test of his clout in the state capital, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has run up against a dual threat: a deeply divided Legislature smarting from his hardball tactics and the determined opposition of organized labor.

On his first day as governor, Schwarzenegger asked the Legislature to set aside partisan rancor and vote by today, the legal deadline, to place two budget measures on the March ballot.

One, fiercely opposed by many Democrats, would put a permanent cap on state spending. The other, facing resistance from conservative Republicans, would let the state borrow up to $15 billion to pay its bills.

Both measures would help Schwarzenegger keep his vow not to raise taxes, a campaign promise that is crucial to maintaining his political base.

snip

"His problem is that in his campaign, he promised what cannot be done, and now he's confronting the reality of what cannot be done," Tipps said. "There is a basic underlying arithmetic that he is now becoming increasingly aware of that says: That is not doable."

"Hasta la vista" it gave him superhuman powers to do anything he wanted, sort of the same effect as Clark Kent tearing his business suit off in a phone booth.

So how many DUer Californians knew this would happen and why are we smarter than the average CA voter?

Because we don't believe conservative talk radio like most of the idiots in this state.

My favorite line from and Arnold movie

some guy asks, "who are you?"
Arnald replies, "I am da party pooper"

California stands to lose $9 Billion if Arnold elected states
byGreg Palast

Friday October 3, 2003

It's not what Arnold Schwarzenegger did to the girls a decade back that should raise an eyebrow. According to a series of memoranda our office obtained today, it's his dalliance with the boys in a hotel room just two years ago that's the real scandal.

The wannabe governor has yet to deny that on May 17, 2001, at the Peninsula Hotel in Los Angeles, he had consensual political intercourse with Enron chieftain Kenneth Lay. Also frolicking with Arnold and Ken was convicted stock swindler Mike Milken.

Now, thirty-four pages of internal Enron memoranda have just come through this reporter's fax machine tell all about the tryst between Maria's husband and the corporate con men. It turns out that Schwarzenegger knowingly joined the hush-hush encounter as part of a campaign to sabotage a Davis-Bustamante plan to make Enron and other power pirates then ravaging California pay back the $9 billion in illicit profits they carried off.

Now that's a nifty piece of self-deception.

It means the state pays more for everything it buys because of the interest on the loan. Oh, goody.

25. Deep Thoughts from a California Republican
(snip) The governor has said he needs both elements to begin putting California's fiscal house in order. But to get the two-thirds approval needed, Schwarzenegger will have to attract 22 Democrats in the Assembly and 12 Democrats in the Senate to his side, while getting all of the Legislature's Republicans to support him.

Lawmakers have only until Friday at midnight to act on the measures to allow time for election officials to prepare ballots for the March election.

Senate Republican Leader Jim Brulte, of Rancho Cucamonga, said the Democrats were playing politics. "The governor has proposed a spending limit and the Democrats don't want a spending limit that's the conflict. Their balanced budget proposal does not require a balanced budget next year or any year into the future.

"If you take a pig and call it a cat, it doesn't make it a cat,' he said.

27. I'd gloat, but...
My state is in bad shape, and it's going to get worse. So is my nation.

Just how bad will it have to get before "We the People" decide to throw these ignorant monkey-boys off our backs?

Rush takes his pills, while our nation buys economic methamphetamine and heroin with money we steal from our kids.

Yeah, here we are flat on the floor squirming around in our own shit, shooting at monsters we can't quite keep a focus on, but don't worry, things aren't too bad, George and Arnold say they can get us another fix.

36. Well, give him a wee bit of credit
He IS working hard to keep his vow of not raising taxes.

Granted, the method of doing this will seriously muck with California's financial and economic future and screw the state down the road, but nonetheless he's working to keep a campaign promise. A stupid one that flies in the face of all rational budgeting and good governance, but a promise nonetheless.

Now, if CA votes on these ballot proposals and approves them, well, good luck to y'all...
