'Top Gun' Bush doll ready for Christmas
http://www.abc.net.au/news/newsitems/s1004691.htm

A company that sells action figures of US President George W Bush has added a new Top Gun model sporting a fighter pilot's flight suit in time for Christmas.

The new doll comes with helmet and visor, goggles and oxygen tank, recalling the President's May 1 landing on the flight deck of a US Navy aircraft carrier, when he declared an end to major combat operations in Iraq.

Talkingpresidents.com has sold about 60,000 of its original, talking President Bush dolls - clad in a conservative jacket and tie - since the launch in December 2002.

Phrases in the President's own voice, placed on the doll's sound chip, include "Terrorism against our nation will not stand" and "Working to put food on your family" (sic). The dolls are assembled in China.

Santa, if you're reading this....

No thanks.

8. Does anyone know if 60,000 sold is a good number?
I mean, don't they sell MILLIONS of Barbie's each X-mas? Perhaps Richard Sciafe set a limit to only buying 60,000 himself.

A company in my city makes this, based on a design by a local artist.

I'm going to get one to use as a doorstop. But I won't be hiding my spare key under him ... you know he can't look after anything ... look what happened to the surplus!

14. It seems one phrase is missing
Man, that doll is the last thing I want stuffed in my Christmas stocking! But it does sort of resemble him in a stiff and soulless kind of way.

I wonder if the sound chip contains the now classic phrase of him struggling to complete the adage, "fool me once..." Oh well, I suppose I'll never find out, and that's perfectly fine with me.

23. Without or without the turkey?
The bird I mean. They should turn out models commemorating all of his most famous photo-ops -- with megahorn in hand on the ruins of the WTC, chain-sawing brush on his stageset "ranch", dropping Barney on the WH lawn.

25. It's very Hitleresque
there were many Hitler dolls manufactured and many toys glorifying Hitler's military machine during his short reign as dictator.

They are worth a little bit of money now as memorabilia--so I would think if you buy one and save it for after he takes a fall, is ignominiously defeated in the next election, or is prosecuted for war crimes, convicted and sentenced, you can probably sell it on E-Bay in a few years and make a profit.
