CAMPAIGN 2006
Lawyer's $1 million keeps Bell in game
John O'Quinn's record donation key for campaign about to run out

AUSTIN - Houston trial lawyer John O'Quinn saved Democrat Chris Bell's struggling gubernatorial campaign from financial oblivion this week by making a record $1 million donation.

Even with O'Quinn's money, Bell's campaign is just back on even footing with independent Kinky Friedman and still dramatically trailing the financial resources of Republican Gov. Rick Perry and independent Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn.

But for a candidate on the verge of running out of money, the donation was manna from heaven — or at least from a trial lawyer.
(snip)

O'Quinn has promised to raise another $4 million for Bell's campaign, and that could make the Democrat more competitive with all his opponents.
(snip/...)

1. Well I hope Bell is able to get more donations to stay in the race.
Good luck to him and to the Democratic party for a new direction.

2. Oh He's staying in the Race

He's on the ballot and everything:rofl:

We just had our only debate this past Friday.

Seeing all four candidates provided a glimpse into who would be the Best candidate worthy of the office. Only one candidate stood out and that is Chris Bell..... No Doubt About It!!!!

Here's my observations:

I think Chris won hands down.

I also noticed Chris showed he is the "BEST" candidate. No doubt about it.:applause:

However, considering all the candidates I thought having all four appearing, kinda made me glad there were that many candidates. They all showed Chris IS the "BEST" candidate.

Strayhorn made Perry and herself look bad. She proved she should leave politics altogether.

Perry had a smugness and smarmy attitude and didn't come off as knowing much. He's our damn Gov. and yet there he is just an empty suit, but so full of himself.

Kinky tried to make everything a joke, well he is a joke in and of itself. He offered a glimpse at what kind of Gov. he would be aka "Perry lite."

Bell looked informed and ready to throw Perry outta the MANSION.... :woohoo:

Edited to include:

Chris Bell is the Representative who brought ethic charges against Tom BugBoy DeLay. For years the ethic committee refused to look into abuses by the members of congress. However, Chris Bell stood up to the pressures of stating the obvious, that Congress is bought and paid for by the lobbyist who write the laws that they pass, whether no not they have the votes.

So, Chris Bell is a national hero, IMHO......

3. Bell is the only sane one of the bunch, all the others are one type
of characture or another.

The empty suite helmet headed vacuous repuke.

The Anne Richards wanna-be with out a clue.

and the new age Mark Twain wanna-be without wit and insight.

4. Agreed!
Apparently Chris is asking Kinky to step down and join the PARTY and do what's BEST for our state.

5. I don't care how much money he has - he's getting my vote regardless
I realize that he apparently needs the money to keep advertising, but I believe a lot of people already have made their decision and are simply waiting for Election Day.

Go Bell!
