Republicans accuse Carney of helping to start Iraq war
Associated Press

WASHINGTON - Chris Carney wasn't in Congress in 2002, never voted for the resolution authorizing President Bush to go to war in Iraq and yet the Pennsylvania Republican Party accuses the Democrat of helping to start the war.

"Chris Carney failed our nation once ... now Chris Carney attacks the same war he helped start," reads the mailing sent to voters. "Don't give Chris Carney the chance to fail us again."

Carney, a former intelligence analyst at the Pentagon, is challenging Republican Rep. Don Sherwood. A lieutenant commander in the Navy reserves, Carney dismissed the mailing as a sign of desperation and argued that Bush - with Congress' blessing - took the country to war.

Sherwood voted to give the president the authority to use military force to oust Saddam Hussein.

"How can they dare attack my service? The accusation is that I'm responsible for the war. That is ridiculous," Carney said. "The intelligence community consists of 16 different agencies. I was but one voice in one agency."

2. Kind of reminds me of the advice given to a rescuer saving
a drowning person. Be ready for the rescuee to take you down with them. The person will be desparate and will cling to anyone and anything to keep from drowning even if it means both dying.

3. .
Is it one of these "You gotta be fking kidding me?!?" moments?
But yes, it is extremely desperate. And as expected, Carnes was leading Sherwood in the last polls.

4. That is flopsweat desperation, there!!! Talk about tossing a flimsy
lifering out for the mouth-breathers to try to grab onto!! Geez, if we'd had a PRESIDENT CARNEY in the White House, odds are we wouldn't have had a war at all....even if it was THIS President Carney:

5. And the Repugs who
pushed through the war had nothing to do with it?

I hope the average voter who isn't plugged into politics can see through this nonsense. This kind of attack is bizarre beyond belief.

7. Was Carney involved in Bush's sixteen words? Edited... NO!
Edited on Mon Oct-23-06 03:37 PM by IanDB1
<snip>

He said he analyzed intelligence that examined al-Qaida's relationship with Saddam Hussein, but he said on a scale of one to 10, the link he saw was about a 2.5. He said he also saw striking evidence that there could be a strong insurgency after the ground war. When he realized that had been ignored, his view of the decision to invade Iraq changed from support to opposition.

9. Wow that is so desperate I cant wait til he beats that
fucking hypocrite. Don Sherwood was vocal in condemning Bill Clinton. At least the Big Dog didn't choke his mistress out. I've heard rumors that his girlfriend back in Tunchannock was even more upset about this than his wife. Victory is gonna be sweet.

12. This is the equivlant of Bush saying that the Clinton family is responsible
for financially backing Bin Laden. If only the Clinton family didn't have business dealings with the Bin Laden family, 9/11 would never have happened.
