Doctor: Job reassigned after writing critical report (VA Medical)
ALBANY, N.Y. -- A doctor at the Stratton VA Medical Center said she was reassigned as a punishment for speaking out about what she believes are staffing problems at the hospital's home care program.

Dr. Roberta Miller, director of home care patient program since 1991, wrote a letter to the Department of Veterans Affairs in August, outlining her complaints, the Times Union of Albany reported in Sunday's editions.

Stratton officials dispute Miller's allegations about staffing shortages and said her job reassignment to a clinical position last month was not a form of retaliation.

The allegations from Miller come at a time when the hospital is reeling from the recent arrest of a former cancer researcher on charges of manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide and fraud. Paul Kornak, 53, of Clifton Park, was indicted in October by a federal grand jury on charges he forged the medical backgrounds of patients in order to enroll them in experimental drug studies.

1. Secretary Princippi wouldn't like her
saying that. After all, everything is perfect in VA hospitals. Just ask the veterans if you want the real story.

2. By the way, having been involved in medical research
for many years, I can state, without hesitation, that there are folks at the NIH and the FDA (physicians) whom I have known well and worked with, who have falsified patient tests time and time again, just to get the patients into their pet cardiology projects.
