We're winning in Iraq, says defiant Bush, as US angers Iraqi PM

President George W. Bush insisted "we're winning and we will win" in
Iraq, as he defended his handling of the war two weeks before key mid-term elections in the United States.

But Bush made his remarks just hours after US forces had infuriated their key ally in the battle for the strife-torn country by leading a raid on a Shiite militia stronghold in Baghdad without approval from Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki.

"We're winning and we will win, unless we leave before the job is done," Bush said in a White House press conference.

The president was attempting to head off criticism from Republicans who fear they will pay a heavy price for the increasingly unpopular war in the November 7 elections.

Now you're back to Iraq? Didn't you get the memo? You're not supposed to talk about Iraq. These guys have painted themselves into every corner they've previously turned.

why is he allowed to state such pinpoint declerations yet never backs them up.
How are we winning?

Show me the decrease in insurgent activity!
Show me the increase in infrastructure!
Show me the effects of an increase in security!

Instaed, all Im seeing is high US Casualty rates.
Even Higher IRAQI civilian death rates.
Bombings, kidnappings, beheadings and secretarian killings on the increase.
Im seeing allies turn AGAINST the US
Im seeing proof of the administrations LIES in the justification for war
Im seeing internationall countries starting to assist the insurgents.
and Im seeing a major downsize in public support for this illegial war.
