Two US soldiers wounded in drive-by shooting in northern Iraq: witnesses
(AFP)

8 December 2003

MOSUL, Iraq - Two US soldiers were wounded in a drive-by shooting in Mosul on Monday as they directed a large queue of traffic at a petrol station in Iraq’s main northern city.

Witnesses said they saw a gunman opening fire on the soldiers with an automatic rifle from the sunroof of a passing black BMW at a round 6:30 am (0330 GMT).

“We heard gunshots, we went outside and we saw two Americans lying on the ground bleeding,” said the petrol station’s owner, Akwan Abdulkarim Mohammad, 45.

“The other American soldiers manning the station formed a cordon around the bodies and they were taken away in a Humvee,” he said.

1. Seems like we're getting more news like this
out of the northern part of Iraq. I've been reading about ambushes coming from Mosul for a while now, just like a chess game apply pressure to one point so you can better attack the true objective.
I wonder when tet will come?
