Newsweek Poll: Too Little, Too Late? (Bush 37% - Dems Lead Scum 53% to 39%)

President Bush made a big show this week of being open to changing his
Iraq policy. It made a difference-but only with his base and only at the margins.
The new NEWSWEEK poll finds likely voters still favoring the Democrats.

Oct 28, 2006 - As the race for Congress enters the homestretch, the
Republicans find themselves limping to the finish line, according to the
new Newsweek poll. President Bush's approval rating continues a slow but
steady climb-from an all-time Newsweek poll low of 33 percent three weeks
ago to 37 percent today. But it may be too little too late: if the midterm
elections were held today, 53 percent of those likely to go to the polls would
vote for the Democratic candidate in their Congressional district versus just
39 percent for the Republican.

But, possibly some of the undecideds of 2004 who broke for Bush now realize they voted for the wrong guy. That would explain some of the numbers today.

Those undecided at this time might not even bother voting and could had been leaning towards republicans.

Let's pretend we're willing to "Change Course" and call some piddly little thing "Changing Course". That's like promising to be open to turning the car to avoid a tree, but instead just considering turning on the turn signals (or making the hand gesture to indicate a turn); only the idiots among us actually think this particular driver would bother to actually go through with turning the wheel (heck, he doesn't even have his hands on the steering wheel--has it tied in position with a rope).

Anyone who supports bush has no love of constitutional liberties or gives a fuck about their fellow human beings. 39% who continue to hate. 39% who continue to be force fed lies by right wing radio.

Diebold will steal that for the GOP.

National poll numbers are nice, but what matters on Nov. 7 is the races for Senate and House seats. If 65 percent of Americans vote Democrat, but 51 percent vote Republican in the area where there are battleground seats (or 48 percent of people, plus the three percent from Diebold), we still have the same problem.

RCP averages GOP at 37.3%, Dems 53.2% (Dem + 15.9%).

Bush approval avg'd at 38.4%, 57.6% disapprove.
