Zogby: Bush Numbers Virtually Unchanged From Trip To Visit Troops
http://zogby.com/news/ReadNews.dbm?ID=765
<snip>
The most recent Zogby America poll of 1,002 likely voters chosen at random was conducted December 4-6, and has a margin of error of +/- 3.2 percentage points. Margins are higher in sub-groups.

Over all opinion of the President has improved slightly from early November. Nearly three in five (58%) say their opinion of him is somewhat or very favorable, while 40% say it is somewhat or very unfavorable. In November, opinion was 55% favorable, 43% unfavorable.
<snip>
The President remains behind in his ‘re-elect’ numbers, where 44% of likely voters now say he deserves to be re-elected, while 46% say it is time for someone new. In early September polling, 52% said it was time for someone new, and just two in five (40%) said he deserves re-election.
<snip>

Apparently "Mission: Baghdad" was a much bigger hit with the Punditocracy than with actual registered voters.

1. Ha ha! I love it.
Their little photo-op didn't work...again...to boost the drooling chimpanzee's numbers. The best thing this guy could do to boost his popularity by at least 50% would be to resign immediately and move back to the pig farm in Crawford.

3. Now that costly trip didn't work,,, be aware those pesky Pubs will go more
neg. To them negativity works, never mind its not a good thing to do, it works. Of course we all know the long term damage might negate the gain but to the Pub, it works, forget long term.

2. Your last line says it all!
The media is so totally clueless as to what people think. Like those in Washington, they live in their own little world.

5. Shift is significant in re-elect numbers....
I'm not hyping it, but there was according to this poll a statistically significant shift in re-elect numbers, though not in approval ratings. I think this shows that theatrical bravado will work to some extent. I do think that the more he employs these tactics, the more enured the public will be to them, and the less the effect. I think it's important for the Democratic campaign to be prepared for similar and even more striking attempts from Bush during the campaign--a response must be forthcoming. Sen. Clinton's concurrnet visit was very helpful in reducing the political gain for Bush from his visit--a fact understood by certain rightist figures.

6. not all that significant
Bush vs. Unnamed Democrat is 43-41 last month it was 41-41 and on ? if Bush deserves to be "re-elected" Someone new is at 46% and Bush is at 44% this is down slightly from someone new at 49% last month. Still a very closely divided electorate, but any gain in Bush's direction is some cause for concern.

11. That shift wasn't from last month to this month
It was from September, when his rating was 45 percent (probably too low, actually) to now, when his approval is 49 percent.

9. Go back to Texas Bush.
I think it is time for you to go back to Texas Bush. I know that your plan had to do more with politics than it did with the war. Think of it as your little vaction from us who attack you.

10. Look for another publicity stunt next July/August...
...when he flies into Iraq for a campaign commercial showing him swearing in the "winner" of their "democratic elections".

Hillary is right. Those elections have been scheduled by the RNC.

12. Canadian reporter
Actaully talking to real troups, even PR officials, showed them singularly unimpressed as they go about their main mission in Iraq- surviving the day. They pointed out Bush was at the airport bubble only and they wouldn't want to be there with a big target sign painted on them.

As Bush mentioned HIS security was the first prioritity then the troops, the troops reciprocated and put their safety first.

The gesture went over like a lead balloon. Reality is a landmine and a grenade ambush and nowhere to go.

Despite the kudos of the state run press.

13. AWOL Is the WEAKEST "President" This Country Has Ever Endured
the country has no faith in a boy that runs from protestors, hides behind a fake thanksgiving turkey, screws up the economy, depletes are military down to NOTHING, and does everything in his power to make it more difficult for the average american to receive affordable health care and prescription drugs.

What a LOSER. I can't believe this country "voted" for a D student. Amazing!
