Univisión names Cisneros to board

Univisión Communications has appointed Gustavo A. Cisneros, chairman and chief executive of Miami-based Cisneros Group of Companies, to its board of directors.

Cisneros Group is a key stockholder in Univisión and also holds stakes in AOL Latin America, DirecTV Latin America and Claxson Interactive Group, all based in South Florida, plus Puebli International and Backus & Johnston Brewing Co. of Peru.

Started in Venezuela, Cisneros still owns TV network Venevisión, which provides programming to Univisión, Regional Brewing Co., and baseball team Los Leones de Caracas. (snip/...)

He's a close friend of George H. W. Bush, he's also the owner of much of Venezuelan media, he's also intimately involed in the attempted coup in Venezuela.

He is going to spew his FAUX NEWS trash all over Univision. It's enough that we are trying to stop media consolidation and abuse in the English market. Now, we are going to have to stop what the Republicans are doing to the Spanish language market.
