U.S. links Iraq contracts to future assistance
http://famulus.msnbc.com/FamulusIntl/reuters12-10-072317.asp?reg=MIDEAST

WASHINGTON, Dec. 10 — The United States on Wednesday suggested it could be willing to open up Iraqi reconstruction contracts to countries that did not participate in the U.S.-led war if they assist ''coalition efforts'' in other ways.

''If there are additional countries that want to participate in our efforts ... the circumstances can change,'' White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters.

...only a bit more...

so that is what all the "no contracts for anti-war countries" is all about -

give us your youth and innocent and put them in the war grinder and then you can "participate" in the contracts.

:puke:

2. I think I will
call it compassionate extortion. You know what a compassionate person the Shrub is. We want to get out of Iraq. Why not let everyone bid and get the job over with. Progress will be quicker and our guys and gals can come home sooner. This administration has been underhanded from the beginning but this is just astounding.

3. I fervently hope that this charade ends with the
international community giving the US a resounding F*** You. This goes far beyond bribery and extortion, it send the same kind of message that the schoolyard bully sends as he steals your lunch after beating you to pulp while laughing. I say, go EU and Russia, since no one here seems to be really willing to do anything constructive to get rid of these plutocrats. Damn it! I think we need to reassess our priorities, and quickly. I for one am perfectly willing to forego most of the 'luxuries' of this society for a bit of security and an internationalist approach.

6. Tell me again how this is not about oil, but of WMD, no wait, chemical
weapons, no wait, liberating those poor people from the tyrant, ya ya that's it. Liberation. So WTF is this about the WTO?

McClellan also said the United States believed that its new rules denying prime contracts to countries that have not helped its mission in Iraq were consistent with the rules of the World Trade Organization.

:wtf:

What a great psychology.

I imagine Chirac saying : "We're going to spend troops in Irak... Because we'll get some cents" or million of $. He wouldn't end his speech that million French would be in the streets !!!!
