Most (2/3) Australians feel misled on Iraq: poll
Australian Broadcasting Corporation

More than two-thirds of Australians believe Prime Minister John Howard misled the public over Iraq's weapons of mass destruction, according to a new poll.

The Australian newspaper's Newspoll of 1,200 people found 67 per cent believe Mr Howard knowingly or unknowingly misled Australians on the issue.

Of those surveyed, 25 per cent said they did not think Mr Howard misled the public on whether Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

But the poll found the popularity of Mr Howard and his Government remains strong.

In the preferred prime minister stakes, Mr Howard gets the nod from 59 per cent of respondents, with just 19 per cent choosing Opposition leader Simon Crean. ---
