French Report Backs Ban on Veil, Kippa, Cross
Thu December 11, 2003 06:09 AM ET

PARIS (Reuters) - A long-awaited report on church- state relations in France advised the government on Thursday to forbid school pupils to wear Muslim veils, Jewish skullcaps or large Christian crosses.

The report presented to President Jacques Chirac said wearing such "conspicuous signs of religion" was contrary to the strict secularism French law requires for state establishments."

is beautifull French and European tradition, but I agree that this kind of overzealous secularism goes against liberal values of leben und leben lassen. And it's stupid policy in many ways.

Bun beither is your sweaping generalization France = Europe a mark of rational enlightenment or liberal values, rather it is stupid remark in many ways.

3. France has had a long history
of being very radical. I don't really see how this law would have any value to the their country but I am keeping an open mind.

Does that make sense?

Sorry to have to compare religions to gangs, but
that's exactly how the fundamentalists of all religions
behave.
