U.S. troops clash with Afghan commander's bodyguards

JALALABAD, Afghanistan, Dec 11 (Reuters) - U.S. soldiers exchanged fire with bodyguards of a pro-government commander they were trying to arrest at a maternity hospital in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad on Thursday, police said.

Jalalabad police chief Haji Ajab Shah said there had been casualties among the bodyguards, but it was unclear if any U.S. soldiers were wounded.

1. That is sort of a crazy story.
Is it me or are the stories coming out of these two countries become really odd? I feel something is really going on we do not know about.

3. Yesterday a Warlord laughed and said he&Taliban control all of South
Afghanistan - and that US control is off and on in other parts.

Seems the Iraq drain has been bigger than we have been told. Osama I am sure is happy with Bush decision making!

4. Who's in charge?
Why were US forces trying to arrest a "Pro-government" commander? What was he doing at a maternity hospital? Why would US forces instigate a fire fight at a maternity hospital? Which way is up?
