1. Link:Saddam's nephew escapes prison in Iraq
A nephew of Saddam Hussein serving a life sentence for making bombs for
Iraq's insurgency escaped from prison Saturday in northern Iraq, authorities said.

Ayman Sabawi, the son of Saddam's half brother Sabawi Ibrahim Hassan al-Tikriti, fled the prison some 45 miles west of Mosul in the afternoon with the help of a police officer, according to local police Brig. Abdul Karim al-Jubouri.

Interior Ministry spokesman Brig. Abdul-Karim Khalaf confirmed the escape but declined to elaborate.

3. "Escaped?" Right. Sure. Just like the masterminds of the USS Cole bombing "escaped."

What's next?

"Saddam Hussein escapes after CIA interrogators forget to lock his cell and accidentally leave keys in their armored SUV with the engine running."

4. I don't know whether to wear tin foil or not.
Wow! That timing is suspicious as hell. That is weird. Were these guys also payroll recipients of the CIA like Bin Laden?

I really distrust my own government enough to think those "crazy" thoughts.

8. If we can't put Saddam back, this will do....
Some (myself included) have been saying it might be better not to execute Saddam, as we might need him again!

I could be wrong but, it seems his uncle was the head man at the time Saddam escaped to Egypt where he caught the CIA's attention....
Not sure of the sequence, but, I'm pretty sure the facts are correct.

13. Reuters: Iraq prison chief held after Saddam nephew escapes
Iraq prison chief held after Saddam nephew escapes

Source: Reuters

By Ross Colvin

BAGHDAD, Dec 10 (Reuters) - An Iraqi prison chief and his deputy were under arrest
on Sunday after Saddam Hussein's nephew, accused of funding the Sunni insurgency,
escaped jail a day earlier, sparking a huge manhunt by police.

Ayman al-Sabawi, the son of Saddam's half brother, Sabawi Ibrahim al-Tikriti, escaped
Badoush prison near the northern city of Mosul on Saturday after the jail's night
watch commander told colleagues he was transferring him to another prison.

Interior Ministry officials said they believed the commander had been bribed to help
Sabawi escape. The night watch captain, whose family has also disappeared, convinced
guards to free Sabawi after showing them a forged transfer form, they said.

Khalaf said officials thwarted a previous attempt by Sabawi to escape about a month
ago. He said that plot had been engineered by a group of Saddamist sympathisers calling
themselves Aawda (the Return Group).

It just can't be this easy.

A high value prisoner with a recent escape attempt walks out with the help
of a fake transfer note. I find this a bit hard to swallow.
