Al Qaeda Sends a Message to Democrats (and shows his softer side)
Edited on Fri Dec-22-06 03:02 PM by seriousstan
Al Qaeda has sent a message to leaders of the Democratic party that credit for the defeat of congressional Republicans belongs to the terrorists.

In a portion of the tape from al Qaeda No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri, made available only today, Zawahri says he has two messages for American Democrats.

"The first is that you aren't the ones who won the midterm elections, nor are the Republicans the ones who lost. Rather, the Mujahideen -- the Muslim Ummah's vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq -- are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who lost," Zawahri said, according to a full transcript obtained by ABC News.

Zawahri calls on the Democrats to negotiate with him and Osama bin Laden, not others in the Islamic world who Zawahri says cannot help.

"And if you don't refrain from the foolish American policy of backing Israel, occupying the lands of Islam and stealing the treasures of the Muslims, then await the same fate," he said.

Al Zawahri Shows His Softer Side

A new tape from al Qaeda's No. 2 Ayman al Zawahri takes a distinctly less threatening tone and may reflect an attitude that victory in Iraq and Afghanistan is near.

The portions of the tape aired today by al Jazeera Television contain no threats towards the West. Instead, al Zawahri focuses on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and talks about the rules for establishment of an Islamic state. "It should not be imagined that Muslims can form a government in Palestine or elsewhere that has anything other than the Shari'a as its jurisdiction. Its point of authority must be nothing except the Shari'a."

Al Zawahiri also stresses that "jihad" is the only way to achieve their goals. "Any path other than jihad will lead us only to losing direction and loss."

The tape comes at a time when the Islamist militants have claimed they are winning their battle with the West because of the situation in Iraq and the increasing

5. I'm hoping this could lead to a breakthrough
We can't move forward with a rational peace plan if we aren't in dialogue with them.

11. No Chance
It sounds like they are saying they will only accept the entire Middle East under Islamic law, you know like Saudi Arabia or Afghanistan under the Taliban.

16. can't happen...........
the American people won't allow it. This could lead to a breakthrough for the GOP in '08, that's about it. Very distressing.

Basically, he is saying, "Kill the Jews! Kill the Jews!"

And how many of us have read the messages below.

What should we say to him?

7. Let rush try -- both limbaugh and zawahiri are automatically discredited
If Limbaugh tries to use Zawahiri's assertion that "American forces lost" in the midterm, he's the one allying his opinions with the terrorists'.

3. Al-Zawahiri
Edited on Fri Dec-22-06 03:13 PM by Mz Pip
can go screw himself. He's delusional if he thinks Democrats are going to negotiate with him and bin Laden. In case he isn't paying attention one of the points the Democrats keep making is that we haven't done enough to catch bin Laden and Al-Zawahiri.

14. i don't think they particularly care about party affiliation
Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Green, Democratic Socialist, they're all the same to these hideous creatures. You know, maybe if the Republican leadership had been somewhat competent in the last 20 years, al Zawahiri would have been imprisoned after his role in the assassination of Sadat, bin Laden would have been captured after 9/11, and through diplomacy groups like Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt would be politically isolated.

but there is no getting around it. This is destructive. The American people just aren't aware enough for this not to have an enormous impact.

19. Credit for the defeat of Republicans belongs to the Republicans, themselves.
The terrorists will just have to stand in line where credit is being handed out. So many reasons, corruption and the Iraq War taking top honors.

"Softer side"? Who writes this tripe? :eyes:

Bush and the GOP handed Al Qaeda the victories they have been achieving. Al Qaeda doesn't deserve credit for the GOP losses. Bush and the GOP themselves do.

24. Al Zawahiri just revealed Al Quida's weakness.
They are threatened by U.S. representatives reaching out to Middle-East leaders. He also says that they won't be satisfied with Palestine being an established state, unless they can dictate the government. It shows the world, they are not concerned about protecting Muslims, but trying to control the region by vilifying the West. The more countries we establish relationships with, the less power they ultimately have.
