Ohio Gov. Taft reprimanded over ethics
COLUMBUS, Ohio — The state Supreme Court voted Wednesday to publicly reprimand Ohio Gov. Bob Taft over his ethics violations, a black mark that will stay on his permanent record as an attorney.

Taft, a Republican about to leave office, pleaded no contest in 2005 to failing to report golf outings and other gifts and was fined $4,000. He was the first Ohio governor to be charged with a crime while in office.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel, an arm of the state Supreme Court, said in April that Taft violated Ohio's code of professional conduct for lawyers, and Taft later signed an agreement admitting to the violation.

1. Why is this news?
Bob Taft being reprimanded for ethical problems is like saying "Brtney Spears was out in public behaving badly." We should be used to it by now.

2. Just out of curiosity
is he any relation to the Taft who was president about 100 years ago, and is said to have got stuck in the White House bathtub? (I'm sure he was noted for other things too; this just happens to be what stayed in my mind about him!)

4. Taft gets a reprimand and Clinton got disbarred
Clinton never got conviicted of anything wrong but was disbarred while Taft on the other hand was convicted of ethics violations and possibly an actual crime and only gets a reprimand. Republican justice...

9. Clinton has his law license back now
Revocation of his license was temporary. The only remaining restriction is, he can't argue a case before the SCOTUS.

5. Governor Taft...Good riddance!
Bob Taft is one of the worst Governors Ohio has ever had to endure. He should have been fined 100x for his actions, and he should be disbarred from ever practicing law again.

6. " . . . a Republican about to leave office,"
. . . has SUCH a nice ring to it, doesn't it?

"Voinovich, a Republican about to leave office,"
"Cheney, a Republican about to leave office,"
"Bewsh, a Republican about to leave office,"

7. Now, Bobby, hold out your hands!
And we'll lightly tap them with a ruler. Then we'll send you to your room to meditate on your wrong-doing, while playing on your X-Box.

Yeah, so good to see evildoers so soundly reprimanded. ;-)

8. Taft protested that he has no ethics
Called the Supreme Court's reprimand baseless.

(Kidding!)

10. LOL. But it's true!
Anyway, Bob Taft will be the end of the Taft political dynasty. No one with the last name of Taft will ever be elected in the state of Ohio.
