MoveOn.org to crash McCain, Lieberman speeches

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Sens. John McCain, R-Arizona, and Joe Lieberman, D-Connecticut, may run into anti-war protesters Friday at an Iraq forum hosted by the conservative American Enterprise Institute.

MoveOn.org, the liberal political action committee, is urging its supporters to crash the event in which both McCain and Lieberman are slated to defend the Iraq war.

"Voters sent a clear message to Congress in November -- get out of Iraq," MoveOn.org Washington Director Tom Matzzie said in a statement.

10. No, they told him they didn't want him to be the Democratic nominee
Did that turn out to be a good idea?

26. 65% of Democrats voted for Lamont; 33% voted for Lieberman -
70% of Republicans voted for Lieberman, 8% voted for Lamont, according to this exit poll:

VOTE BY PARTY ID TOTAL Lieberman Lamont Schlesinger
Democrat (38%) 33% 65% 2%
Republican (26%) 70% 8% 21%
Independent (36%) 54% 35% 10%

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2006//pages/results/states/CT/S/01/epolls.0.html

Anyway you try to spin it, this is not a victory for the Democratic Party. It is, in large part, a victory for republicans, because they were able to defeat the Democratic nominee by voting for Lieberman en masse. apparen tly, republicans in Connecticut preferred to have Joe Lieberman as their Senator, rather than the republican candidate.

Personally, I find this very, very disturbing, considering the destruction that republicans have wreaked to our country over the past 6 years.

It is a huge loss for the people of the United States that the Democratic nominee for Senator from Connecticut was not elected to the Senate.

28. How bad of a candidate are you that over 1/3 of the voters in your party
vote for another candidate?

29. The more relevant question is: How stupid of a Democratic voter
are you when you vote for a candidate that is supported by a large majority of republicans?

Apparently, 1/3 of the Democrats in Connecticut watch way too much Fox News Channel.

11. Probably for the same reason they referred to Jim Jeffords as an Independent
Although he was elected as a Republican, he decided to serve as an independent for most of his term.

21. In an earlier comment I called it "going Cindy Sheehan on their asses"
I'm thinking of pushing that one into the vernacular. I like it and I like this. The time for being polite is long past. It's time to act up and be heard.
