Albanian fix for Guantanamo dilemma

"America's former terror suspects are embarking on new lives as refugees in Albania.

The impoverished eastern European nation has become the new destination for a special category of prisoner - men whom the US feels it is right to release but risky to repatriate.

Asylum has already been arranged in Albania for eight former Guantanamo Bay detainees whom the US says would face torture if sent back home.

Their transfer marks a new trend in the "war on terror".

Experts say dozens of men due to be released from Guantanamo could soon follow suit because of US concerns over human rights in their home countries."

1. This is just so sad...

More than likely these people were just hapless innocents that another tribe made some bounty money on...

I've said it before, they weren't terrorists before we got them, but they probably are NOW. At least, I know I would be.

There was a movie out some months ago, maybe 4, that covered this very topic (though it changed location to Africa and the bad guys - the ones who wrongfully imprisoned the hero - to someone other than the US.
