BBC: Pakistan "nuclear" kidnap foiled
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 02:06 PM by bobthedrummer
"Police in north-west Pakistan say they have foiled a bid to abduct six officials working for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission/PAEC."

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/south_asia/6264173.stm

Hmmm, this is another "report" that may have a lot of depth to it imo.

edited for spelling

1. "Proliferation Unbound: Nuclear Tales from Pakistan" by Gaurav Kampani
This article, like any other article including the one from the BBC, may contain some disinformation-but it certainly has a lot of truth in it.

Perhaps that is why the author used the word "tales" in his title. It is helpful to those wondering where the "high grade uranium" mentioned in the PAEC attempted kidnap (if that is what really happened) came from-as well as the geopolitics involved.

2. Pakistan's former head of military intelligence, the ISI , Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Ahmad
Edited on Mon Jan-15-07 05:17 PM by bobthedrummer
if he's still alive should be interviewed about a few things that people who were having breakfast with him in Washington on the morning of September 11th, 2001 don't want to say anything about.

That would be the then Chairs of both the Senate and House Intelligence Committees Senator Bob Graham and Rep. Porter Goss, as well as fellow diners Sen. John Kyl and former Pakistan US Ambassador Maleeha Ludhi.

After September 11, 2001 Gen. Ahmad also met with Richard Armitage, Colin Powell and Sen. Joseph Biden-there are rumors about meetings with other Americans too but multiple independent sources have verified the ones that I've mentioned so far, facts that anyone can confirm easily.

Imo people like Laili Helms should also be interviewed (former US public relations spokeswoman for the Taliban and niece of Richard McGarrah Helms) who, not by coincidence, did a lot of "work" at the United States Institute of Peace/USIP-which, not by coincidence, sponsored the Iraq Study Group-but it's so easy to seem to go off-topic when we are discussing geopolitics and the "war on terror".

Let me get back to the former head of Pakistan's ISI- Lt. Gen. Mahmoud Ahmad-since the OP of this thread is about a reported event inside Pakistan that would most likely be of some concern to the ISI.

Gen. Ahmad was in the US, in the Beltway during September 4-13, 2001. One of the most suspicious things he did was participate in delivery of $100,000 to Mohamed Atta. Meanwhile, in Afghanistan on September 9th, 2001 the Northern Alliance leader Gen. Massood was assassinated.

The Northern Alliance, regardless of what tribal/ethnic warlord claims "leadership" has some historic emnity towards Pakistan and historic clandestine ties to the US/UK including linkage to the Iran/Contra crew.

The Northern Alliance's multiple "leaders" were paid hundreds of millions of dollars for their "support" of the Decider's war on terror and particularily during operations taken against the Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan in 2001.

Yet Pakistan somehow or another was permitted to "evacuate" operatives of the ISI during Operation Anaconda-and that "evacuation" expanded into thousands of people including Taliban and al Qaeda forces. Seymour Hersh reported this fact in January 2002.
"The Getaway"
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/articles/020128fa_FACT

Of course the result of this has been the rise of the Taliban, record opium production, and new al Qaeda influence which President Karzai is uanable, not by coincidence, to counter.

So, as I wonder about what else might be contained in the BBC report about a thwarted kidnapping of PAEC employees working in a region because of the presence of "highly grade uranium" in the homeland of Dr. A.Q.Khan presided over by President Musharref who came to power in a military coup-well, it's easy to get distracted by history.

I wonder what Gen. Mahmoud Ahmad knows about this-as well as what Bob Graham, Porter Goss, John Kyl, Richard Armitage, Colin Powell, Joseph Biden and others could recall about his visit to Washington in September 2001.

I know there is a lot of depth to this BBC report.

3. Guardian: Pakistan Army Destroys al-Qaida Hideouts by Munir Ahmad
Pakistan's army destroyed three suspected al-Qaida hideouts in an air strike near the Afghan border o Tuesday, killing several members of the terror group, an army spokesman said.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/worldlatest/story/0,,-6348105,00.html

The BBC World Service Radio is also big on these recent reports from Pakistan and a BBC correspondent asked a Pakistan spokesperson if Osama bin Laden is in Pakistan, which was neither confirmed nor denied.

I know there is a lot more to these reports from Pakistan in the past few hours.

There is some irony to me in the fact that the reporter in this link is Ahmad, like the name of the former ISI commander that was in Washington September 2001.

4. I note where a couple of representatives of empire are today (supposedly)
SecDef Gates/Afghanistan; SecState Rice/Saudi Arabia.

And this on the day that a jury is being selected in the Libby trial, the Decider's escalation in progress, and Congress was evacuated for a time.

7. A Taliban spokesman captured in Afghanistan yesterday, Mohammad Hanif,
is reported to have claimed that Taliban leader Mohammed Omar is living in Quetta, Pakistan under the protection of Pakistan's ISI.

There is a current thread in LBN about this-and so it goes, there is a lot of depth to the attempted kidnapping of PAEC employees story in the OP.

Yet more news from this geopolitical target of airstrikes, bringing more death that has caused more emnity towards the United States. The villagers also have two unexploded missiles amid the wreckage that brought death. One of the missiles is labeled "AM York 0873".

What is going on there, another area that SecDef Gates has decided in need of more escalation???

no longer mattered??? That was a true statement, coming from an installed administration composed of a bunch of lying war criminals, profiteers and traitors.

Yep, sure-and and then another year and another...
maybe that long sought after oil pipeline "agreement" with the Taliban will never happen as planned but the war on terror is on for the forseeable future...

There is indeed a lot of depth to the OP

"PAEC set up an office in the area after high-grade uranium was discovered."

18. About as helpful as hearing about the Georgians that were "arrested" last summer
with high grade radioactive something or rather-and we aren't talking about Atlanta but the other Georgia-which "had" a lot of real WMD's when part of the former USSR.

Btw, Mr. Putin is in India working on arms and nuclear technology deals for Russia.

There's a lot of still LBN related to the OP.

21. Sec/Ste Rice and the Decider more escalation and $$$ to Afghanistan
plus NATO meeting in Brussels to further screw-up (by design) the war on terror.
A Pakistani suicide bomber walked into a Marriot Inn in Islamabad hours before an Indian delegation was expected.

V. Putin stayed in India to observe their Independence celebration with all those tanks, artillery, and planes delivered and more on order, including four nuclear reactors.

Woe.
