BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- A series of explosions has rocked the Iraqi capital.

An initial large blast shook what's believed to be a residential area in central Baghdad, followed by a series of smaller explosions.

Flames can be seen, along with thick black smoke. Gunfire was also heard, but it's not clear if any U.S. forces were in the area.

The explosions come soon after word of Saddam Hussein's capture in northern Iraq. President Bush had cautioned the nation that the arrest doesn't mean an end to violence in Iraq.

I was wondering if we'd see a counterstrike to attempt to deflate
the euphoria. There has been a sort of pattern like that.
