Sudan says U.S. troops search Baghdad embassy

KHARTOUM, Jan 17 (Reuters) - Sudan on Wednesday summoned the senior U.S. diplomat in Khartoum after it said American troops raided the Sudanese embassy in Baghdad, violating diplomatic conventions, a foreign ministry spokesman said.

In Baghdad, U.S. spokesman Christopher Garver denied U.S. troops had raided the Sudanese embassy, which is near the airport road where many bombs have targeted troops and convoys.

"Nine American soldiers in four military vehicles forcibly went into the embassy after overpowering the guards and searched the embassy offices inside," said Ali al-Sadig, Sudan's foreign ministry spokesman.

The embassy has been officially closed for more than a year after Sudanese diplomats were targeted in attacks by insurgents in an effort to get Arab states to withdraw diplomatic representation in Iraq.

But al-Sadig said two Sudanese guards still worked at the embassy.

3. We can raid anywhere we want to
we just raided the Iranian consulate and arrested six people; there are no rules or laws that constrain the criminal organization of this administration

I wonder when the other countries of the world are going to have enough of this?

what the hell is Bush thinking? Does he have any sense of the consequences of a person's actions?

And if he did NOT sign off on repeated violations of embassies, that shows he has completely lost control of things.

10. Supposedly the embassy was abandoned except for two guys guarding it

13. That presupposes that they raided it.
Gad, I hate questions built on embedded, and therefore not readily deniable, presuppositions. To parse the question you have to assume at least briefly that the presupposition is true.

The first question is, "Did the US actually raid the Sudanese embassy in Baghdad?"

14. Cover
for the intense real operation against Iran. Looks baldly like a reaction to world condemnation of the earlier raid too, the only response Bush would make. The same goes for wasting the shepherds in Somalia.

Temporary equal opportunity counter-terrorist disguise.

They intend to mostly squash Iraqi Shiites in connection with beating down Iran. Happy saudis. Happy Israel. Happy oil companies. Poor little literal collateral damage ruse fodder.
