Neb. Gas Station To Offer 'Terror-Free' Oil
http://www.wgal.com/money/10815377/detail.html

OMAHA, Neb. -- Area drivers will soon be able to fill up with gasoline made from "terror-free oil."

KETV in Omaha reports that a gas station is about to open near 129th and Q streets named Terror Free Oil, and the idea is to offer consumers petroleum products from countries that do not sponsor terror.

The gas station is associated with the Terror-Free Oil Initiative. The group's objective is to encourage Americans to buy gasoline that originated from countries that do not export or finance terrorism. A representative said that Omaha's will be the first of several terror-free oil gas stations to open across the country.

"The terror-free oil initiative is dedicated to encouraging Americans to buy gasoline that originated from countries that do not export or finance terrorism," according to the group's Web site.

6. Wow. You mean only Persian countries support terrorism?
I hope he doesn't buy any American gas or oil because we invest in a lot of terrorism.

3. Good for them
Let's see how that plays out.

Might just be to liberal of an idea to go very far. It's not like this isn't something we have been working toward for years. Glad to see that someone is taking the initiative to try it.

5. Good idea, but pretty much impossible
With the way the world market works there's really no way to exclusively buy oil from one country or completely exclude another country. Though trying to cut the Saudis out as much as possible is a good move.

Odds are they list it because of typical right-wing hatred of Chavez.

edit (sorry, I don't consider 1% to be significant), I originally looked at the two other listings for Citgo, not the very first one.

Also, before doing business with hess, do some research on their activities in Burma with Premiere Oil.

11. Not a horrible idea
These guys are obviously wingnuts (I mean, Jesus, look at their gas station logo!) but I'd love to be able to support a company which doesn't buy from Saudi Arabia or other fundy countries.

13. If there is Jesus in their station logo, it might be a hint that they are fundy themselves.
Just a thought.

17. Brings up an intriguing question...
So we are to buy gasoline, which is made from the compression and heating of ancient organic materials over millions of years ago, from a business that uses Jesus, a symbol of a world only 6,000 years old, in its logo?

I wonder if this causes the Fundies to think?

19. Fundies cannot think -- it threatens their very existence. But the real question is why someone
would support one version of Fundamentalism over another, when they both appear to be both sides of the same coin, at war with thinking "non-believers," war-mongering, sexually repressed, hateful of minorities and women.

12. Considering that U.S. foreign policy supports regimes it later calls "terrorist," buying from
stations in Omaha supports terrorism with the best of them.
