LAT: Fox News to air 'Path to 9/11' outtakes
Fox News to air 'Path to 9/11' outtakes
Clips were taken from miniseries producer's public talk in Camarillo.
By Matea Gold, Times Staff Writer

NEW YORK -- In a move that could rekindle a heated political debate, Fox News said Thursday that it plans to broadcast footage from ABC's controversial miniseries "The Path to 9/11" that was edited out of the docudrama amid criticism that it inaccurately portrayed the Clinton Administration's response to the terror threat.

The outtakes -- set to air this Sunday -- depict former national security advisor Samuel R. Berger refusing to approve a CIA request to attack Osama bin Laden, an event that both Berger and the Sept. 11 Commission said did not occur.

The final version of the movie that aired on ABC in early September still included the scene, but it had been toned down after protests from top Democrats. Several minutes were culled out, including an exchange in which Berger hangs up on former CIA Director George Tenet, according to a Fox News producer who has seen both versions.

The previously unaired footage is scheduled to be broadcast Sunday at 6 p.m. PT on "Hannity's America," a new weekend show hosted by Sean Hannity, one of the cable news network's most popular personalities.

Fox News obtained the outtakes at a public talk in Camarillo given earlier this month by Cyrus Nowrasteh, writer and producer of "The Path to 9/11."...

8. Both of them ABC and Fox
Why would ABC allow these to be aired if they weren't worthy of airing the first time... oh that's right this is the same organization who refused to distribut Farenheit 9/11 (boy that was some genius move huh?)

2. Pitiful.
They'll no doubt hype it with "the footage the evul Democrats didn't want you to see!!!" and scream hysterically about how fair and balanced they are. Then they'll accidentally tell everyone that it's the absolute truth, only issuing a "correction" of their "mistake" three weeks later at about 4am.

3. and we should ALL complain to the FCC about Hannity
Deliberately playing out takes that were taken out before the original aired?

This, if anything, should spark a debate about the amount of control certain groups (waves to Rupert) not only own stations - they seek to drive public opinion by airing QUESTIONABLE or false and misleading information.

I'm all for free speech. But it better be true. If not, then perhaps Rupert and Hannity need to be driven off the air. Permanently.

6. Fox is becoming more like the Soviet news agency TASS everyday
You can't get much closer to a state run TV network if you tried.

11. ABC and Fox, purveyors of Foxaganda
These asswipe networks are no better than TASS in the old Soviet Union days. And you can pretty much toss CNN into that mix, too.

12. Fox News: We report, you get sloppy seconds.
More of the same from the right-wing echo chamber. First they try to tie the Obama madrassa story to Hillary's camp and then they bounce it back and forth between themselves so as to appear to be corroborating and expanding upon accounts. Now Fox takes the whopper reel from "The Path to 9/11" and spins it as facts that the evil liberal media prevented from being aired on ABC.

Just because you say something repeatedly and loudly doesn't make the story true.

I suppose Hannity's finding it hard to fill up time on his show with anything of substance.
