Arab groups urge GMA to dump 'biased' CNN personality
Edited on Fri Jan-26-07 05:13 PM by RamboLiberal
Three groups are urging ABC News not to keep CNN Headline News personality Glenn Beck on as a Good Morning America commentator because they believe he's biased against Arabs.

The Arab American Institute, American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee and the Muslim Public Affairs Council all said Thursday they had written to ABC News President David Westin about Beck.

Good Morning America executive producer Jim Murphy has spoken to a representative of the groups and has invited them on the air to talk about their grievances, said ABC News spokeswoman Jeffrey Schneider. Beck has appeared twice on the show, once together with a Muslim religious leader.

The groups said that Beck — who's drawing strong ratings with his evening show on CNN Headline News — has stated on his show that Arab and Muslim Americans are apathetic to terrorism. During an interview in November with Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim member of Congress, Beck asked him to "prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."

"That blatant anti-Arab, anti-Muslim bias has been given credibility on a larger news show is something that concerns us," said Arab American Institute spokeswoman Jennifer Kauffman.

Now Beck is whining that his question to Ellison was 'poorly worded'.

11. You got that right. Glenn Beck hates everyone that
is not a rich WASP. He hates poor WASPs as much as he hates the black, brown, red or yellow man. With this asswipe you got to be pink and RICH.

3. I support these groups viewpoint on this issue
Seriously, we have a significant number of Americans who are Arabic or have Arab ancestors. Allowing the putrid piece of offal from CNN to 'comment' on issues of the day in the morning will be as bad as Headline News has become for most of prime time - this individual must be driven from the airwaves from mass revulsion of his cant. Bluntly, he needs to be deprived of his podium, and the Fairness Doctrine needs to be reinstated, and all this ilk should face mandatory debate in real time <vast, evil grin>.

9. Beck is a right wing fundie hate-monger
He is beneath contempt, he plays to the toothless hateful masses.

The kind who used to cheer at lynchings of young black men in the south.

His drooling fans are those who wear sheets and hoods, and burn crosses at night. (Both literally and figuratively)

7. Beck's morning radio show has a regular feature ....

in which he makes 'random' phone calls to convenience stores and gas stations hoping that he can get someone with and Arab or Indian background just so that he can belittle them for his audience's entertainment.

in the US that does not want to see any form of US political Muslim ascendancy.

12. Yet the RW sound machine still insists that CNN & ABC are 'liberal'
In their attacks against re-imposition of the Fairness Doctrine, they argue that the media is already 'balanced' since CNN and ABC are so liberal.

:grr:

This preposterous statement commands a brisk two word reply: "Glenn Beck?"

(Alas, Democratic talking heads have yet to hit upon this response)
