Iran 'working feverishly' on nuclear bunker: UN Atomic Agency

Iran 'working feverishly' on nuclear bunker: UN Atomic Agency
Last Updated: Friday, February 2, 2007 | 5:38 AM ET
CBC News

Iran appears to be pushing ahead with construction plans to build a site capable of making nuclear warheads in defiance of Western opposition, UN observers said.

Diplomats in Tehran said Friday Iran has begun laying down piping and installing electric cables for its underground uranium enrichment plant, with hundreds of workers hired to complete the bunker as quickly as possible.

1. This isn't news.
"Iran is doing what we have known they are doing, and they intend to go on doing it, which we also knew, and by the way, we don't actually know of any evidence that they are doing anything wrong, other than that we say so."

Media, get some self-respect. Stop letting yourself be used this way.

8. Agree. As soon as Bush called them "evil" they stepped up their nuke work
as did N. Korea, since they foresaw that they were potentially in line to be attacked, confirmed when Bush attacked the first of the "evil"s: Iraq, and he would have attacked them next, if he hadn't fucked up his Iraq adventure

2. * Propaganda Maybe - From Same Article.........
The diplomat spoke on condition of anonymity because the information was confidential.

Isn't it interesting in the run-ups to *'s wars - the source is alway anonymous. Same Game - New Country.

But remember what * said about the Iraq war - This is the first war of the 21st Century. That scared me when he said it - it implied a string of wars following.

3. If Bolton weren't out at the UN, I'd suspect him of being the source.

12. Yep, that phrase; "spoke on condition of anonymity "
is the flag that trips the BS detector. ANy article that runs any source quoted with "spoke on condition of anonymity " should be taken with a grain of salt to say the least

the IAEA will report it. That is what they are tasked to do.

It will be interesting to see what their response is.

5. Are they going to throw aluminum tubes?
Why is
"to build a site capable of making nuclear warheads"
always the same as
"or its underground uranium enrichment plant"?

Are they going to put centrifuges on a shahab missile?
That's about the only thing you could do with a enrichment plant.
Making nuclear warheads is something very different from
uranium enrichment, but of course it sounds better.

7. Smirk has practically said he's going to nuke them.
I don't really expect them to just sit there and wait for it to happen like Iraq did.

10. AFP: Tehran, diplomats disagree over UN objections at nuclear site
That CBC report saying "capable of making nuclear warheads" is the most
sensational MSM report yet.

Tehran, diplomats disagree over UN objections at nuclear site

by Michael Adler

Fri Feb 2, 10:00 AM ET

VIENNA (AFP) - Iran has begun setting up an industrial-level site to enrich uranium
in defiance of UN demands and is blocking access to UN inspectors, diplomats have
said, triggering a swift denial from Tehran.

-snip-

At the seat of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, diplomats
told AFP Friday that Iran had begun construction of 3,000 centrifuges at its main
nuclear facility in the central town of Natanz.

It was also stopping UN inspectors from installing surveillance cameras in the huge
underground hall where the production lines, or cascades, of centrifuges are being
set up, the diplomats said.

A high-ranking Iranian official in Tehran denied both allegations.

(IRNA)
IAEA inspectors install cameras at Iran's Natanz Nuclear Complex

Tehran, Feb 2, IRNA

Iran-IAEA-Natanz
An informed source said here Friday that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)
inspectors have installed cameras aimed at controlling activities at Iran's Natanz
Nuclear Complex.

The informed official who talked with IRNA's Political Desk reporter on condition
of anonymity, reiterated, "The installment of those cameras has been in accordance
with Tehran's commitments towards IAEA regrading the UN nuclear watchdog's
inspection and control responsibilities."

Reacting to some Western media reports, he said, "Iran has not imposed any restrictions
against IAEA inspectors' activities." He meanwhile reiterated, "Installment of no new
centrifuges is planned at Natanz Complex."

11. More to the point
what is iran doing to defend itself against imminent attack?

I suspect whatever reinforcing of installation can be done will be done feverishly indeed so that the worker can then get the h*ll out of Dodge.

The source is revealed as pernicious because of the point of view that our attack is NOT imminent but "provoked" by some weird imminence of Iran getting the bomb. Only a Bushco source would take that exact perspective frame. More logically, anyone in the area would expect a flurry of activity prior to bugging out from a target area. This is purely a provocative pretext story not served in its argument by mysterious anonymity.

This is what you get when the whole world is even more against you and your self-serving lying interpretation of reality. Pathetic except, again, for our professionally gullible war drum media.
