Dems Push to Expand Child Tax Credit ("week from hell for rupugs")
WASHINGTON (AP)

The House Democratic leader pledged Monday to disrupt business as usual this week to pressure lawmakers to expand the child tax credit for more low- income families.

``This will be a week from hell for the Republicans,'' said House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Pelosi and House Democrats want Congress to enact legislation expanding the child tax credit before lawmakers leave Friday for a monthlong summer recess. ---

John Feehery, spokesman for House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., said Democratic disruptions will not move the bill any faster.

``We passed the bill. We're in conference,'' he said. ``I don't think that tactic will work for them.'' ---

1. then F#CKING GET INTO CONFERENCE and move all the way over
to the senate version of the bill. The $82billion excuse of a solution for an $8 billion travesty of justice is merely an insult to the people perpetrated in the "people's house".

Rethugs got their people in Corporate AMerica and Richie Rich land taken care of...they need to be FORCED to step back from their mendacity and pass the child tax credit. no flim flam. no pork. no gimmicks.

Call your US REpresentative tomorrow, please. Demand they do it.

2. Democrats should have let it stand
and hammered the Republicans for being anti poor. There are many more poor folk (hand raised) than there are rich, but the problem is poor folk don't all vote. If the Democrats don't get the national debate off the so called Democrat weaknesses onto Republcian failures and weaknesses, it doesn't matter how much, "hell they give the republicans" because the Democrats will lose defending themselves against Republican lies.

3. Dems also have to show that they'll fight for the poor and middle classes
so they can't just let it stand, since folks might think that Dems aren't looking out for them.

4. If what we saw Friday is any indication,
Pelosi will indeed give them hell. She's highly pissed off. You could almost see lightning bolts coming from her eyes during the hearing on the Ways & Means Committee conduct. It's ON.
