Seattle P-I: Everett lands 7E7
Boeing board first had to be convinced that jet would sell

Chicago has Boeing's world headquarters, but Everett has the 7E7.
In a major economic boost for the region, and a badly needed morale boost for The Boeing Co.'s commercial jetliner work force here, the company's board of directors yesterday approved Everett as the final assembly site of the new jetliner.

As many as 3,000 Boeing employees on the 7E7 team are expected to crowd into the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle today for the 2 p.m. announcement from Alan Mulally, head of Boeing's commercial jetliner business.

1. So we give Boeing 3.2 billion?
A deep water port and buy a New 747 cargo jet, to keep a couple of thousand job's...doesn't add up.

2. I'm glad it's going to Everett
The country doesn't need even more jobs bleeding to the south, and the workers in the Puget Sound area all have the expertise already.
Somebody has to start making socially acceptable as well as financially acceptable decisions. Boeing made the correct call IMHO.
