Secret labs' uncovered in Iraq
Evidence of a "huge" system of secret laboratories has been found in Iraq, Prime Minister Tony Blair has said.
In a Christmas message to British troops around the world, he said new finds were still being made.

The Iraq Survey Group had uncovered Saddam Hussein's plans to develop long range ballistic missiles.

"These things weren't being developed unless they were being developed for a purpose," Mr Blair told British Forces Broadcasting Service.

1. More bullshit.
"evidence", "plans to develop".
Just in time for Christmas, too.

22. Weapons programs = classes at university plus books!
this is getting silly!

:-)

No actual weapons - now we have a lab - what an evil idea!

Now ir is good that Saddam is gone - but really -

As Clark said (paraphased) he would be gone if there were a Dem in the WH now - only we would have had UN approved intrusive inspections - followed by overthrow of Saddam -

And 500 more US military kids would be alive, 3000 more US military kids would still have all their limbs, and 7000 Iraq civilans and 30000 Iraq troops perhaps would still be alive.

28. How old are these labs. Are they the ones the US paid for?
I am sure they will find all kinds of labs and resources...but how old will they be and how did Saddam get them during 12 years of sanctions and eyes-in-the-skies watching every move he made?

Keep your minds moving folks...don't stop thinking, questioning, reasoning, analyzing. You can be as good at this as anyone.

33. Turns out a Blair reference to trucks Brit sold Iraq for Weather Ballons
But Tony has forgotten all the info that has come out in past few months, and is relying on a memo Bush gave him - not that Bush would lie!

Really - Blair is referring to bio-labs that do not appear to have been found!

which although possibly a threat in the unforeseeable future should not be confused the weapons of mass destruction....a more imminent threat.

13. My program - to become unbelievably wealthy!
It's a program. Really. Just as substantial as Iraq's program to develop weapons.

I have no real wealth. Just a program.

That must make it real. I guess I have to pay taxes on all that money my program will provide.

I can buy a brand new Rolls Royce with my program to become wealthy, in the same way Iraq can bomb Israel with it's program.

7. Heck, we knew they were developing long range missles.
The inspectors uncovered missle development that exceeded the limits of the Iraq war cease fire. They were making them destroy them before the war began. They even showed the pictures of the missles being run over by bulldozers under the observation of the UN inspectors. Geez, they must be counting on the short term memory of most people if they think this one will fly.

11. And the inspectors had a better record than Shub,
in uncovering Iraqi weapons. I wonder what would happen if Blix and CO inspected the Shrub admin for illegal development of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons? I bet you they would find something. :evilgrin:

<snip>
Modher Sadeq-Saba al-Tamimi said in an interview with The Associated Press that he tried several times to reach the American teams searching for weapons of mass destruction. Once, in July, he asked a friend who had already met with American missile experts to set up a meeting for him but the Americans never showed up. Later, he said, his British handlers assured him that they had discussed his case with the CIA, and he didn't need to worry about reaching them.
<snip>

<snip>
Kenneth Gerhart, a Pentagon spokesman who is working with the weapons hunt, wouldn't talk about Modher's case saying: "We do not discuss intelligence or operational matters."

Britain's Ministry of Defense declined comment as well. And messages left for one of Modher's British handlers weren't returned
<snip>

<snip>
Modher argued then, and now, that the missiles were designed in keeping with the council restrictions.

19. It must be true if Blair says so -- maybe Santa Claus told him.
But given past Blair/Dubya performances, I want to see the evidence.

And don't forget that the excuse for the invasion was not 'secret laboratories,' rather large supplies of WMDs ready for use. Sorry, secret labs just don't cut it.

26. were they in Saddam's "spider-hole" ?
After seeing the state Saddam was in and the little hole under a hovle he was hiding in, how can anyone think that he ever had massive secret weapons programs? Surely with all that experience in hiding things they could have come up with a better hiding place than that.

If saddam had all these underground labs, then why was he found in a hole in the ground as opposed to the opulent underground facilities he was supposed to have? Spin that mo-fos.

State Department news briefing now on C-SPAN. When asked directly about this, Boucher said he didn't know anything about it, hadn't heard about it and if Blair has information, the reporters would have to get it from him.

Uh, Tony, you got some proof you want to show us??
