Calling it "a gigantic day for our campaign," millionaire investor M. Blair Hull announced Monday that the new chairman of his Democratic Senate campaign is Rep. Bobby Rush (D-Ill.).
"We will win this campaign," Rush said. "And I tell you, I'm going to be involved in every aspect of the campaign from the schedule of the candidate to the victory party--deciding where the victory party is going to be at."
The South Side Democrat dismissed the suggestion he was endorsing Hull to get back at rival candidate Barack Obama, a state senator who waged a failed challenge to Rush in 2000.
"That's just a bunch of poppycock," Rush said. "I'm a person who always throughout my life has operated in the best interest of people--not because of what a person does or didn't do to me."
